"The Valley of Discovery" - San Marcos Real Estate
San Marcos homes and real estate, “The Valley of Discover” runs along the Highway 78, connecting highway I-5 and hwy I-15. San Marcos is one of the fastest growing communities in San Diego County, with a booming population of 63,000 residents. Located 25 miles north of downtown San Diego and only nine miles east of the north coastal communities of Oceanside, Encinitas and Carlsbad, San Marcos and its many master planned communities and sub-divisions within allow for a great place both geographically and environmentally to purchase homes for sale.
More than half of the county’s suitable land has been developed, allowing San Marcos the capability for much more growth. Planning and building have already begun for one of the largest home developments in the history of San Diego County. The community of San Elijo Hills will grow to approximately 3,400 homes on 2,000 acres of land over the next ten years. The location for this expansion will be situated in the many hills behind Lake San which resides on the western border of the city Marcos and Twin Oaks Valley Rd which will soon be connecting this community to hwy 78. Lake San Marcos is a very popular attraction, or if you would prefer staying dry, there are two golf courses situated on the land around the lake for anyone who would rather practice their stroke.
Existing San Marcos real estate consists of many middle-class neighborhoods, some resembling Mediterranean style architecture, and all of the homes and land are kept well-maintained. For the land that has yet to be developed but still is inhabited by “home owners”, mobile homes account for approximately 12 percent of the area housing.
Because of the growing amount of residents under 18 years of age, San Marcos prides itself on a highly educational and reputable school district. San Marcos residents have the strong belief that education is a top priority for young minds, and that is apparent when researching the many schools within the community. In the past few years the community has put forth millions of dollars to their cities schools, creating more buildings and converting them into more modernized, spacious facilities to benefit both students and faculty. Besides Palomar College, San Marcos is also home to California State San Marcos, which is another branch of the CSU system. Both colleges offer an array of courses and have been the home to many future career seekers.
If you would like to make San Marcos home for your growing family please allow us the opportunity to help you find the real estate that would match your families needs. Any questions about this wonderful community please don’t hesitate to call or email.
